Allison gave a low whistle, staring out at the slowly setting sun. Despite it having been a rather warm day, there was still a sense of mist in the air: a chilling sort of thing that the girl wasn’t incredibly fond of. Taking two bounds down the small, bare hill that she’d stood on, Allison headed off at a slow pace toward the path that headed away from the pirate village. She had wanted to see the outside world before, and why not now? It would be a pleasant night, and she could cover ground quickly if all went well. Why, if things went particularly nicely, she’d be back by tomorrow. And no one would miss her, now would they?
Whistling a high, cheerful tune, the girl set off on this makeshift plan.

Pier trudged through the valley just before the Pirate Village. His gloved hands were dug deep into his trouser pockets, and his bad was swung carelessly over his shoulder. His cloker blew in the breeze, and anxiety twinkled in his charcoal eyes.
Pier was not in the best of moods. His mind wandered to the tasks he was assigned to complete. He needed to find the missing Princess Antonella before anyone else did. What to do with her, Pier did not know. The society's council stated specifically alive.
He knew very little about the princess. Only her appearance which was on a sketch done by her by the society's artist.
Pier came back down to earth from his anxiety when he spotted another figure, of a girl, walking through the meadow. The shadow quickly faded into the daylight before he was noticed. Which was the last thing he wanted to happen.

Allison slipped the pocket-watch out of her jacket sleeve and looked down at it’s round, white face. It had failed to work since two years ago, and before then it had been a consistent hour off, but Allison didn’t care. It made her feel important to carry such a trinket, the kind that those London gentlemen always had with them back home. Hm, back home. No, she hadn’t forgotten about it yet. Although she had decided the pirate town to be quite a nicer place, she did have an occasional longing for real life. Here, she didn’t grow up. She’d never know what it was like to be a young woman, nor would she ever get the chance to marry. Even Allison had to admit that thieving wasn’t everything to life. Someday she figured that she’d like to know what it was to fall in love. She wanted to grow up. She wanted to be respected. As a child, no one took her seriously, something that rather infuriated her.
Her thoughts scattered back into her mind when the corner of her eye caught a flash of greys and blacks. A shadow perhaps? Mm, likely. Allison was used to seeing an occasional traveler from Twisted Oak city, wandering about the Pirate village. Although she considered them to be slightly odd characters, Allison had decided early on that they weren’t such bad folks after all. They seemed to have the same morals as the pirates, though she had to admit that a pirate’s mind tended to be a bit more on rum than important matters.
“Hey, ho, diddle: ah, your cat’s got the fiddle, and she plays like the drunken boat cap’n… Eh…” Allison sang to herself merrily as she made her way surreptitiously toward the general direction of where she had seen the possible shadow being. If he or she brought news to the pirate town, then Allison wouldn’t much mind having word of the new intelligence first. Information was something valuable to many people, and who knew? Might concern her, might not.
Either way, she could spare time still. The sun was yet up, and that meant that there was yet still time.

The figure from the distnce had turned to be a blonde headed girl. She had obviously not been born in Neverland. Pier assumed she was a runaway, and that she ment no harm to him or the society he worked so hard to protect. Pier gently faded out of the shadows, and stepped into the sunny meadow.
The girl stood humming casually to herself looking at what appeared to be a broken pocket watch. "If you are looking for the time, you might be able to find in the towns." Pier suggested from behind her. "But why care about the time? There is more than enough to spare in Neverland."

Allison slowly turned in half a circle to face the voice from behind her. A smile spread quickly on her lips, and she gave the pocket watch a gentle shake. So she had been right! A shadow, right there next to her!
“Ah, it’s going away from the towns that is the trick, sir.” Allison with a nod, taking a backwards step to look up at him. Hm… dark eyes, dark hair, dark clothing, ghostlike flesh… Yep, a shadow alright. And rather a handsome one at that. “And I should suppose so, sir: I should suppose so.”
Allison just gave another nod and left it at that.
“So, sir, have you got news, or do you come to the Cove just for the view, mm?” she asked casually with another smile, narrowing her eyes just a little.

Pier gave a brief bow as if he were an important official. A smile rose upon his cheeks as he stood tall again. "No, miss. There unfortunatly is no good news, or bad news. For, I am no a messenger." he said. Pier paused for a moment to brush back a strand of loose hair.

"As for the view... It's not something you see everyday." Pier said grinning at her. "Well, Faire Maiden, may I ask what you are doing outside of town? You never know. There could be shadows about, and not the ones you see on the trails of your feet." He raised his eyebrows, curious to know what the girl was doing. He was most likely just as curious of her as she was of him. Shadows were not something to be seen everyday. Especially one that's be happy to stop and chat.

Allison was just about thrilled that the shadow seemed to not mind continuing the conversation. She had generally not accustomed to having folks older than herself stopping for a pleasant chat, and the ones younger than herself were usually asking for food or something.
“Eh, just going out. The smell of sea stench and bad rum isn’t necessarily good for ones thoughts. And a change of scenery never was known to hurt someone now was it?” Allison flashed another smile and took another step backward, licking her lips once and looking the shadow over more studiously.
“As for that, no shadow ever paid attention to me to the point of danger. I’ll be fine.”
Allison paused for a moment, then added, “Well, if you haven’t any news, then what sorts of business do you come with, mm?”

Pier studied the girl's expression. Did she really want to know? Pier pondered for a bit. What would be the harm in telling her his mission? But then again, he never knew who this girl could be friends with. Pier decided that a simple white lie wouldn't hurt anyone. "Just.. err.. Visiting a blacksmith in town." He told her. "Musn't have a dull rapier... Anyway, where are you heading to get away from the bad rum and sea salt?"
Pier knew he shouldn't have stopped to talk to the girl. To the truth he hadn't known why he'd come this direction in the first place. Pier assumed he could find rescourses as to the Princess's locatio here, but maybe he was distictly wrong. The town, by the girl's description and the looks of it, seemed nothing special seemed to roam there.

Allison tilted her head to the side, her wincing a bit. “I should think there’d be an able blacksmith in Twisted Oak.” she said carefully, but persisted no more on the subject. If it was no business of her’s to know, then it was no business of her’s to know.
“Well, sir, I doubt you can see it, but there’s an invisible line… just so…” she said with a sweep of her hand in the other direction from the town. “…out there.”
Allison tapped the thin glass on her pocket watch absentmindedly. “And past that line starts the world, you know. Back there… It’s different.” Allison voice grew slightly softer as she looked distastefully over at the Cove past her shoulder.
“A lot like London, but worse in a sense… you know?” she pressed her lips together in a smile. Her eyes then fell down to the rapier sheath that hung about the young man’s waist. “Could I be so bold as to ask to have a look at your rapier, sir?” Allison asked as she raised her eyebrows and returned her focus to the man’s face.

"An invisible line, eh?" Pier said thoughtfully trying to believe her. Surely there was no such thing. Or at least he had never been told of it. Perhaps she was speaking of the horizon. The line where the sky meets the sea.
“Could I be so bold as to ask to have a look at your rapier, sir?” The girl asked Pier as he glanced back at where she had motioned to. "Oh, why of course. Please, though, enough with the sir. Pier von Poe is the name, though I shant think it suits me very well." Pier smiled as he pulled the rapier from the sheath. It's black tinted metal gleamed in he sunlight. A gleam he was oddly not use to. "Nothing special, and if you really wish to know. It's much cheaper to get a sword fixed here than in Oak."

Allison gave a broad smile upon receiving the man’s name. Sounded foreign to her, though she couldn’t remember exactly what nationality it reminded her of. Fish… Fresh… Something like that. “Well, Mister Poe… or Pier… I am simply Allison. Pleasure to be meeting you.” she said with a slight nod of her head.
Then without a pause, she reached out and touched the blade of his rapier lightly, running her slightly finger down the sharp edge once. It was dull enough to not sever off her finger, but it did leave a thin cut which immediately began to drip blood. Allison stuck the hurt fingertip in her mouth and smiled awkwardly back at Pier. “You can’t blame me for testing, y’know.” she said with an innocent bat of her eyes, then followed by a short laugh.

"Well, Miss Allison," Pier began while sliding his rapier back into the sheath. "I do believe you need to be more careful." Pier looked about trying to find something to tie up Allison's bleading finger. He ripped a shred from his black shirt before grabbing her hand. He carefully wrapped the shred around her finger and tied it in a know. "All better?" He asked raising one of his flawless eyebrows.

Allison gave a short sigh as her finger was slowly, gently bound by Pier. His shirt now had a strip about an inch wide and five long missing from the hem, where he had torn it to use as her bandage. Clothing was expensive – at least as far as she knew – and a person such as herself usually ends up wearing the same thing for as long as it lasts, though adding layers occasionally according to the season. And so Allison did feel a little guilty that Pier practically ruined a perfectly good shirt for her sake.
“Yes, better.” she said with a brief nod of her head. By this time the sun was just floating above the treetops to the west, and the lighting was turning an orangey shade. It was a shame that she knew the man as little more than a stranger: she felt that they could very easily become friends of a sort.
“You know, there is a hermit that lives a way yonder. A very talented man he is… A friend of mine, I suppose, if hermits have friends… But either way, he has a forge and all, and I do think I could get him to sharpen your rapier for probably no cost, as well as with better care than any drunken pirate smithy.”
Allison gave a smile and slipped her hands into her apron pockets. “That way you get what you’ve come to the Cove for, and I get an escort away from here. Sound fine to you?” she asked, then took out her pocket watch and looked down at it to hide the hopeful expectation in her expression.

Pier nodded nervously. It was dangerous to travel night, for he faded into the darkness. "I don't know," he said. "It may not be safe for me to be seen with you. No offense to you Miss Alison." The night was also when his dsorder began to kick in. It tumbled his emotions, and was something he wanted no one to see. He was at his most dangerous point.
Pier's eyes flicked to the setting sun. Any moment it would dissapear under the horizon taking him with it. "Why don't you take this for now," he said handing Allison the rapier along with it's sheath. "or until we meet again.."

Allison blinked, her eyebrows raised in a confused, taken-aback moment. She looked down at the sheathed rapier that he extended to her, but handed it back to him quickly. “Oh, no: you can’t give stranger your weapon. What sort of insanity is that?” she laughed half-heartedly, shoving her hands back in her pockets.
Until they met again? What was that, a hinting farewell?
Allison stepped backwards once again and followed Pier’s eyes to the sun, which was now half hidden by the trees. “What’s wrong?” she asked quietly, a little worried, should it concern her safety too.

The sun was just about to dissapear and soon the moon would rise. He turned back to her and gave an anxious smile. "Please, it's not a big deal." Pier told her, not pushing the weapon into her hands. "I... Don't do well traveling at night, and besides if our paths shall no longer cross I'll just buys a new one. Not a worry."
Piers eyes turned to the sky. The su had set, and the night bubbled into the sky. It was time. Time to go. The darkness engulfed him and soon he was nothing more than a shadow. A shadow unreavealed by the dark.

Allison was about to protest, when suddenly… He was gone. She gave a sort of exclamation at this sudden parting, backing away even further. She was alone… just like that.
“Pier? Sir? Mister… Von Poe?”
The cold sheath that she held was being gripped very tightly by her lithe fingers, her knuckles turning white as Allison turned around in a circle twice, baffled.
“Well, yes, a shadow. Of course he could just disappear… it’s in his ability…” she said to herself after a pause, a little angry at having been so shocked to see Pier practically dissolve.
Allison then put her attention back upon the rapier sheath in her hands. In the darkness that now faded all the colors into blues and blacks, the only way Allison knew it was still there was by its feel. Such an awkwardly long thing it was! When she attempted to tie the belt about her waist, the tip of the sheath was an inch from the ground! But at last she figured the regular method of keeping it pointed diagonal, and after this she decided that perhaps it wasn’t such an awful thing after all. And, either way, she now had something of value – yes, real value. This could be her restart! Allison could afford things again… return to pick-pocketing… yes, yes, it would all work out now.
Allison gave a sort of skip, and started at a merry jog down the lonely path that led straight away from the Cove, singing on and off as she went.
“The lion and the unicorn were fighting for your crown…”

Pier watched, still there just not visible, as Alison skipped off. She seemed estatic to have the rapier, which had been useless to Pier for ages. He had never took swordsmanship, and had no desire too. At least she could put it to good use.
Pier silently followed her, trying to not step on a twig or a leaf so she would suspect anything.

"Mister Pier," he repeated trying to sound like an echoe. Pier lookup at the treetops. The moon was slowly rising into the night sky. He sighed softly. The moon made his job much harder. If only there was someone to shoot it right out of the sky..
Alison quickly began skipping towards the woods. Pier followed right after her trying to keep up with out being noticed.
They had almost reached the beginning of the wood wen Piers booted foot snaged on a branch. It broke in two with a loud chrunch. "Damn," Pier whispered to himself. He hoped Alison would not notice and continued to follow.

Allison tilted her head slightly at what seemed to be an echo of her voice. Only it sounded a good deal different… Shrugging, she skipped along and all was quiet for a good while. Just as the woods neared ahead, Allison almost jumped at a sound behind her. She knew that it could have not been herself that had made the noise, for immediately after she heard a soft hiss of air like a whispered word. Allison bit her lower lip, turning around again to stare hard at the dark meadow. Still no one could be seen.
“Now, come: I don’t fancy to being followed. Who’s there?”

“Now, come: I don’t fancy to being followed. Who’s there?” Pier said trying to Echoe her. This time he tried to throw his voice, but it turned out just as it did before. Rough.
Paniking and rushed ahead of her into the wood. Branches and leaved rustled beneath his heavy footsteps. "Shoot, Shoot, Shoot," he whispered to himself in heavy anger. Hopefully the girl only suspepted another shadow or perhaps a stalker or hermit.

Allison’s eyes winced in confusion as a great deal of noises crashed into the air, this time from the wood ahead. She also heard a human voice, or something like one, mixed in with the crashing and crackling of brush.
The girl just stared with fright and a little fascination, catching what was unmistakably glimpses of a human figure in the occasional beams of moonlight that had snuck their way into the forest. Allison this time remembered the rapier that hung at her hips, and pulled it out with some trouble, the thin, black blade catching a reflection of white light and seeming to sparkle.
She muttered a curse, but didn’t speak again as she waited for the whatever it was to go away.
